First addition to the new baja. Drove a 10 hour round trip for the purchase, all the speakers but 1 were blown, and after such a long quiet ride I thought it this fitting.

New Sony double din w/backup camera and android auto, new speakers...

Speaking of that, has anyone else added a backup camera to their baja? Most aftermarkets are added to the license plate as a bracket.. but obviously not the greatest choice if you use your bed extender a lot and flip down the plate. For now I have mine on the left side mounted underneath the lip/Subaru badging to the left of the tailgate release. It works, but is pretty useless if you have the tailgate down, and the angle of the camera still gives a pretty cropped frame. Will post another picture of the location to follow.

Got the 4 pots in... Also, with these stock Baja wheels, you don't need the spacers! Huzzah!

I got my Baja back in June and it was in perfect condition other than filters and a couple bushings. Since then I have put in a touchscreen, new speakers, and an under seat sub. I also changed all the Trim to the old man wood. Afterwards, replaced my old fogged up headlights for some junkyard Outback’s. I cleaned them up with same sandpaper and clear coat and they’re good as new! Last week, I just got these rims and tires put on but are a little too big. Had to get the hammer out in the front wheel wells so they could turn without rubbing. Here’s a picture of them outside the tire shop.

That's too cool. I have the 5-spoke wheels, any idea if those clear the 4pots too?

I have those as well with my AT/Winter tires on 'em and I've been meaning to test it but just haven't gotten to it yet. I'll post back as soon as I've checked.

Today I replaced the headlamp and fog assemblies and added LED's. I also replaced the shift bride (new OEM) and knob (Blox BRZ style), the old material was cracking and worn. Next up I'm planning on sanding/restoring the yellowing cargo lamp lens in the back. I'd like to find LEDs for it too, but haven't taken it apart yet to see what might fit.

For LED replacement, I used these guys.

IIRC, the cargo light is the same as the brake light. I got one red for the third brake light and two white for the cargo. Don't trust my memory, though.

Yesterday I switched out the dash and door switch bezels for the burlwood look. I also wired up a pair of LED footwell lights. All looks nice.

Installed the KB-001-RS short shifter, new bushings, o-rings, and knob. Pretty pleased with the outcome! Sorry about the photo orientation. The upload did that and I cannot rotate them back.

Didn't "DO" it yet but I bought the parts to get my Baja all up and rolling again. I had a shop do a once over on it right after I bought it in Dec 2019. New tires, alignment, replace broken belt pulley tensioner that they found. Since they found that I was actually fairly confident that they gave it a good look all over. AND I WAS WRONG!!! haha. Apparently looking at the ball joints to see that the cotter pin was missing didn't make their once over list. Nut worked its way off and the ball joint popped out of the control arm in a turn. Luckily I was doing 20 MPH in a roundabout and not 70 on the highway!!
So since it needed EVERYTHING anyway. 294k on a 2003 Baja. But the body and interior are pristine on this thing (minus a little tweaking to the fender from the above mishap) and the car is worth it to me to rebuild from bumper to bumper. I plan on keeping this thing forever.
So first round of rebuild is the chassis stuff.
King springs and new KYB struts from Primitive to get the height a little higher without breaking the bank. New steering rack. New front axles and hubs. New rear wheel bearings. And brake pads and rotors all around to top it off. Should be a good start. If my wife doesn't kill me for dropping 2k into the car in parts alone!!
Then I will work on electrical gremlins so I can have all of my dash lights and a working radio.
After that....engine and tranny swap. Nothing crazy. Maybe just a rebuilt 2.5...or 3.0...or turbo 2.5... we will see.

Have fun kids. Look forward to more cool ideas from this site. Waldo

New plugs today. They weren't bad at all to install. Just move an air box, remove battery loosen wiper fluid tank and you can get to all plugs. First time I've done it.

Well lets see. I bought an 06 Baja last Aug. For $1500. It was pouring oil out of the engine, the owner didnt know where from. He had started the car in the morning went inside to get his wallet, when he came back outside the car was dead. Turned out it jumped time. Pulled the engine and replaced with an engine from an 02 outback. Had to drill the head for the egr tube and replaced the head gaskets and timing belt kit. Put General Grabber AT2 tires on.
This week i picked up another 02 Outback wagon limited. I pulled the heated mirrors, heated seats, console and little pieces and parts out. Took the wiring harness apart for the seats and seperated the heater part. My car is already wired for the seats right to the pass. kick panel. Pulled the heater pads out of the outback seats yesterday.
Over the next week i will pull the heads off the engine. The windshield with the heated wiper rest. The transmission solenoids will also be removed.
