Silly Question....

Post by RedStage »

Why didn't subaru make the rear window with a slider like almost every other pickup truck?

Along with the switchback pass through I think this would have been a cool addition to the Baja.

I've always been curious how much it would cost to take the rear window with a slider from a larger truck and have a class shop cut it to the size specifications to put it in the baja. Would love to have an opening there!
I like it here.... [smilie=cheeky-grin.gif]

Because it's actually an option on most trucks, not standard.
Most crew-cab trucks don't have it, those that do are newer and it's powered.
Kind of redundant when you have two working power windows in back.
Because admit it, the Baja's a car made into a truck not a truck made into a car.

I know, I'm just a downer out to ruin everyone's fun.

Boo.....

but considering the back glass on the Baja is unique to the Baja....that argument is invalid.... ;)

According to pickuptrucks.com's review the rear window is fixed for added stability of the vehicle. I'd like to have a rear sliding window instead of a fixed one, & apparently someone might've done it according to a tacomaworld forum post, but I can't find any pictures. :(

Just had a thought this morning,
Maybe the Baja didn't come with a sliding rear window for security reasons? The theoretical rear window could be easily opened from the bed allowing someone to then open the switchback & crawl through that to get into the vehicle then possibly steal it (or someone's stuff) with no damage indicating the car/stuff was stolen. Plus I don't think the switchback is actually wired to the security system since it's designed to be opened from the inside only? Maybe Subaru just thought that for security reasons the solid rear window was easier.
Just a thought.

Simple solution: put a latch on the rear slider like every truck has to keep people from opening them from the outside...
