Tonneau cover adjustment

Post by su-be3 »

8) Two weeks ago, I received my replacement tonneau cover, for the one that was starting to rip in the corners.
I noticed that Subaru has re-designed the corner pull straps. Whether it helps in the future we will see.
I installed the new cover myself, at home.
What I noticed was that the on the side rails, at the end where it curves, it was raised higer then the rail on the tailgate. I felt that this may have been putting undue strain on the cover.
I don't know yet if this will help, but what I did was take the side rails off and at the rear edge of the rails, I GENTLY bent down the last 3 inches of steel on my work bench by hand. It will bent easily, so don't go Gorilla on it!
I have since noticed, and the new cover design might be the reason also, that the cover goes on MUCH easier now.
I'll keep you updated as time goes on, as to the progress of the new cover.
Keep it under 90, folks!
