Might finally buy a BRAT

Post by artcfartc »

I'm going to look at a 1978 BRAT this weekend. It's in unknown bad shape, but priced accordingly. I know that it needs a carburetor and distributor. It was sitting in a warehouse for years then sold to it's current owner who left it in a field. Other than rat gnawed wires, rust-through, and structural rust damage, what should I look out for? This is Northern Texas, so assuming it's spent most of it's life here rust shouldn't be too bad, right?

I'm passing this info on to anyone interested. I have too many projects, so I didn't check it out. I was scared I'd fall in love and have to buy it.

Here's the post. They're Selling the BRAT for $400, as a parts car for the GL. The BRAT seems okay and they say they have titles. Neither has been used in years, but were stored indoors most of that time. It's in Keller, TX which is near Ft. Worth.
