EJ22T Swap In An '82 Brat?

Post by Lifeisgood »

I was wondering if anyone has any info on swapping an EJ22T engine from a '90-'94 Legacy Turbo into an '82 Brat? I've done a bit of searching but haven't found anything yet. I'm sure someone has done it before, seeing as the EJ22 is such a bomb proof engine. Would a 5 speed hi/lo transmission from an early 80's wagon work? Any info would be appreciated

Dang fine question as I would like to shoehorn a fuel injected 1.8L engine from a 88-95 Loyale 4wd into my 85 Brat that currently has a EA82 Carburated 1.8L.

Yeah, the carb on mine is having some issues as well. I'm sure it would fit and I know it's been done before, I'm just not finding anything written up online anywhere. :-(

I have found a TON of info on www.ultimatesubaru.org in the retro-fitting section of the forum, but it is not specific to any one model or year. However, the crowd over there seems to be Very helpful. It's worth a look anyway.
