Re: The $70 tonneau cover

I know this is a mega bump, but this looks pretty cool. I want to try one. Was a little weary of it lacking a locking mechanism. Has anyone considered installing a type of rotating mechanism, or something along he lines of a door handle? Would love to figure it out. When I built mine, I did a lot o...

Rola Roof Basket Install tips?

Hey, all~ Just getting around to installing a new Rola rack I bought a few weeks back. Anybody already gone down that road and have any tips on making things easy? I noted that the instructions call for a slightly wider minimum bar spread than is possible on the Baja (bit more than 1") and wond...

Re: Baja seat bottoms

So I spent the better part of the afternoon pulling both seats. Swapping will not work, the mounting frames for the pads have different bolt patterns and swapping the foam won't either. The bolt patterns are just far enough apart. At least I was able to clean under the seats... Are you saying that ...

Re: WTB: A.R.E. Baja cap

Oops forgot the link: http://tucson.craigslist.org/pts/4313289075.html ARE was the only manufacturer......not sure if they will still make one up special or not, but it will be pricey! When I bought mine direct 4 years ago they were not all that thrilled or responsive to make one up, especially aft...

LED Driving/Fog replacements?

With all this talk about LED projects going on, I was wondering if anyone had tried to replace the factory driving/fog lights with LED type replacements?? Someone shot out one of mine and I need to replace it anyway, and was wondering if there was a round LED that would be a simple plug and play...i...

If you do this, please post the process you went through....I have the same issue on my '03!!

Re: A different roof rack question...

Ahh cool, I get the middle piece extension idea. That makes total sense and would work perfectly. I'll look around for a rack with extensions... My cap actually does have crossbars. They are the round Yakima style, but getting brackets to hold a rack on will be easy. I think it was an option when t...

Re: Roof Basket Question

http://www.scoobytruck.com/bb/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2469&hilit=walmart When I looked at the pics on this post, it looks to me like the brackets for attaching to the roof rails are installed upside down, with the bolts extending into the bed area, where they could damage stuff in the rack........

Re: Roof Basket Question

Looks same to me. Groovy. How's it holding up ? where the 3 pieces connect together, there is a little bit of rust forming there. but im sure a quick shot of WD-40 will fix that...the only real issue is the wind noise. If you like riding around with the sunroof open you might wanna rethink mounting...

Roof Basket Question

Does anyone have any experience with one of these Highland 1041900 U-Venture Steel Rooftop Cargo Basket? I’m curious as to how they fit and hold up over time. Amazon has them for $93 which seems like a steal, if they are OK. There are a lot of positive reviews on there for them, for a variety of veh...

Heat shield vibration??

Hey all~ Noticed a slight vibration noise at certain low end RPMs in the past couple of months.....to me it sounds like a license plate vibrating against a steel bumper...obviously not the case on the Baja. Anyway, had the mechanic try to track it down at last oil change and he said that the exhaust...

Re: Baja Pics

Used mine as high beams...12:30am, empty road...got pulled over. And what did they say? I don't know about other states, but in California you can get nailed for even having driving lights off, without the covers on them. Not sure how the new LED ones will be viewed, but the CHP is deadly on the ol...

I think they quit making the soft cover replacements, and the originals were crappy. I would go talk to a marine upholstery place that makes bimini tops for boats and see if they would make you one.......
