Re: Newbie with Motor Questions

One other possibility is the timing belt tensioner. I had a noise that sounded exactly like piston slap; even the mechanic who built my engine said it's definitely piston slap. It was loud when the engine was cold, and gradually faded over a few minutes. I didn't think it was piston slap because the...

Hi, sorry for the late reply. If they're still available, I'd like to get them shipped to California. PM with Paypal?

Re: FS: Stock Baja Audio/Interior/etc. Parts

Hi,

I'm also interested in two of the fog light guards. Are you anywhere near Toronto, ON? If not, how much shipped to either 95051 (CA, US) or L4K 2J1 (ON, CA)?

Thanks!

Oh, also your photos aren't showing. Looks like you copied-and-pasted your personal Google Photos link instead of the publicly-accessible one. Why not upload straight to this site, so future generations don't need to deal with broken links when Google Photos changes to Bing RealWorld and all URLs ar...

Re: Welcome the WEST List !!

When I first arrived, I went to a mechanic at N Mathilda Ave and W Maude Ave, in the Valero gas station. He seemed pretty good, and didn't have any problems with him. Yelp reviews seemed good too. He is one of only two mechanics I've brought my Baja to where there wasn't something else broken after ...

Re: Turn signals work. Hazards on constant (no flash)

Probably the first thing to check is make sure the hazard switch is connected properly. The wires are pretty short and the clip can sometimes get broken. If that's fine, wiring diagram is here: http://jdmfsm.info/Auto/Japan/Subaru/Baja/2005/USDM%20Legacy%20FSM%202005%20%28BT%20Baja%20only%29/7%20WIR...

As in, if the relay that enables the dimming of the low beams is only present in the four-beam version, what is the two-beam version doing?

Any idea how the two-beam headlights have the DRLs implemented?

Re: Swithching headlights from a Baja Turbo to a Baja Sport!

This wiring diagram might be a bit easier to see the differences between the two... And my statement about the logic being identical might not be accurate after all, seeing as there's an additional relay in the four-beam headlight system that (according to this diagram) isn't present in the two-beam...

Re: Swithching headlights from a Baja Turbo to a Baja Sport!

To add, When the headlights are off, the daytime running lights are in use, and those just the main low-beam headlights at a lower voltage (unless you disable the DRLs). The high beams only turn on when the low beams are on, and that includes when flashing. The low beams don't turn off when the high...

Hi, welcome! 1. Go to Google.com, type in "subaru fsm" (without quotation marks), and good results should present themselves. 2. There are two nuts at the top, and one nut/bolt at the bottom. The get access to the top two on the passenger side, the plastic trim will have to be removed. The...

Re: 2005 Baja sqeaks

Mechanic said there are six sets of two. For the sway bar links, aren't there only two sets of two (one for each corner)? My Baja just started squeaking when going over bumps, and especially bad over speed humps and going into driveways. For me, it appears to be suspension arm bushings... https://w...

Re: Unknown leak, what could the problem be?

Not sure about the oil, but the coolant could be one of the hoses on the top of the engine leaking. There are hoses that run to the heater core and into the throttle body. When I did my head gaskets, I forgot to reattach the latter ones, and thought I had a monumental coolant leak... If there doesn'...
