Re: Baja Turbo jerking on acceleration.

You mentioned the spark plugs, but did you also do the spark plug cables? Mine had a similar problem where it would jerk under hard acceleration, but otherwise ran perfectly. For me, it went away after changing the cables.

Re: Removing Roof Rails

Hi Ken,

Check out parts.subaru.com ; they have exploded diagrams of everything, I think. Doesn't have procedures (that's in the FSM - factory service manual), but the diagrams should be helpful.

Re: 05 Baja turbo shortblock

I think in California, any replacement engine needs to be of the same year as the body, or newer, for it to be legal (emissions regulations, IIRC). Therefore, you wouldn't be allowed to put an 02 engine into an 05 Baja... So it might be worth looking into for your state to see if there are similar r...

Re: LED Headlight Installation

quad lamp (separate lamp for high/low) headlights came later and on higher trims. Most 03s had the simpler combined headlights. Okay... I was looking at the Wikipedia article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subaru_Baja 2003: the initial model featured leather seats, power driver's seat, and sunroof....

Re: LED Headlight Installation

Hey guys, New to the forum, but hoping somebody on here has some advice! I recently bought some 9007 hi/lo beam LED headlights for my 03 Baja, and they don't fit inside the dust covers. Anybody had this problem in the past and modified them to make them work? I thought all of the 2003s had separate...
Yeah, that would be optimal but since the Baja manual is not real popular around here and finding one in the junkyard is not a likely... I was hoping that someone could confirm that an 200x-200x blah blah blah is "exactly the same" as the 2004 Subaru Baja pedal set... :-D
...

Re: 05 Baja Sport won't start

When you pulled/replaced the spark plugs, were they soaked in fuel (i.e. was fuel actually making it to the engine)? First guess would be fuel pump or something related to it (relay, wiring). When you put the key in the "on" position (but not start), do you hear the pump running for a few ...

There should be a fuse diagram on the back of the cover that you pulled out. That cover can be popped out if you can't see the sticker.

Re: ABS Normal?

Yup, hitting a bump can cause the tire to leave the road briefly, reducing friction which allows it to lock (or even just decelerate more quickly than the others) causing the ABS to kick in. I agree, but when friction is restored to normal (the weight has settled back on the tire that left the road...

Re: ABS Normal?

It doesn't need to be dirt, gravel or snow... Even bumps in the road can cause the ABS to kick in and substantially reduce the force applied to the brakes. At least on mine, the ABS partially releases the brakes to prevent (what it believes) the wheels from locking, but it feels like it doesn't reap...

Re: Would an EJ20 2 liter be compatible in an 05’ Turbo?

...But even if they did what is this code it needs to run "better"? I think "code" in this context is ECU firmware (computer program), not an OBD code. Sounds like the previous owner thought (or claims to have thought) that it's trivial to just update the ECU's programming to wo...
