Re: Start up/cold weather knock?

My 03 makes a funny knock when cold. Its been cold up here in Wisconsin for the last week. It sounds bad, but it goes away when the engine warms up. It sounds like piston slap to me. Its not as bad as my 93 Cherokee was, that thing would have piston slap/knock all the time, and it never used a drop ...

Re: Front plate mount?

I had a aftermarket grille guard on mine when I bought it. It looked bad and the paint was starting to peel on it. :( I talked to the local dealership, and they said the same thing, that there wasn't any bracket for the front plate. I had our parts guy at work get me a bracket for an 03 Outback. It'...

Re: pickin' mine up tomorrow!

You should love driving this around instead of a big old truck!! I bought mine in April 2004 from the Dodge dealer I work for. The previous owner had traded it in on a Dodge truck because he needed to plow a long driveway. It had 17,000 miles on it, and was perfect.  ;DOne test drive was all it took...

Re: Baja's pre-wired for KC lights?

In the  kit you swap out the open compartment under the radio and the switch pops into the left side of the compartment. You lose about an inch of the opening of the compartment. The switch harness is taped to another harness back in there. The relay for a 03 is different than a 04,i think the 04 & 05 ...

Re: Start up/cold weather knock?

If it means anything, my '05 does not knock - though I have not had it long.  It was down to -2 the other day, and I had no problems.

Start up/cold weather knock?

Anyone else have a start up knock in cold weather?  We've got just about 4,000 on our 03, and changed the oil to Royal Purple synthetic @3,900.  We were hoping the synthetic would help, but it still does it.   It does it until we drive about a minute down the street (@30 mph), it doesn't seem to mat...

Front plate mount?

Anyone come up with a better way than SOA?  NY requires a front plate-we're going to try to get away with putting on the dash in the front window-it worked for a few months with our last truck-but if we get hassled, I don't want to just punch a few holes in the bumper & hope that holds the plate!!  ...

Re: Baja's pre-wired for KC lights?

Where do you put the switch?  There's no empty spot (I don't think...).   I wonder if it would fit in one of the coin slot delaies in the center section....Anyone try to wire up anyhting other than the "sport activity lights" that SOA sells (@$300 is a lot for 2 lights, imo)?  I wonder if using anot...
