Re: What makes Subarus good in snow?

Ok, if tires mean more than drivetrain, I would like to ask a question about tires. Is there difference/preference between studdles and studdable winter tires, even if I don’t intend to add studs to studdables? Studdable tires look “meaner” in pictures, and they are generally cheaper than studdles. ...

Thank you, mike!

I should have figured out to check YouTube first — nowadays, it seems like, there is a video for every possible topic of interest :)

Re: Replacing cracked boot of the rear bar

I searched online and found a dealer who sold it for $28 bucks or so. I ordered clips and retainers from the same place for $.97 per piece.

I can find a link if you want

What makes Subarus good in snow?

I’ve heard from multiple sources that Subarus are good cars for snowy conditions. This upcoming winter will be my first with Baja and I live in an area where snow storms are frequent in winter time. Nowadays a lot of car manufacturers put AWD on their cars. There are plenty of SUVs and trucks that h...

Re: Replacing cracked boot of the rear bar

Did this job today (replaced cracked boot/cover of the trunk bar). It wasn’t bad. However, after removing the side panel and the trim, one also needs to remove the trim on the side of the cabin leading to the top of the bar. Because the covers must slide on top of the bar through the top, not the bo...

Replacing cracked boot of the rear bar

Hi,

I have a cracked plastic boot at the bottom of the RHS bar in the trunk. See the picture.

I ordered a replacement part from Subaru.

How do I go about replacing the plastic boot? Do I need to first remove the side panel of the trunk? What else? What is the sequence of the steps?

Thanks!

Re: New Baja owner: wheels/tires size question

Thanks. I found website that provides comprehensive comparison of tire sizes and offers suggestions on the best matches: TireSize.com

If people want to go with 17” rims, then the best match for standard 225/60R16 will be 225/55R17.

Re: Highest miles on a Baja (so far!)?

Just got my 2006 Baja. It had really low miles: 72+k. One previous owner. Head gasket was recently replaced.
Otherwise it is like a time capsule
Hoping for long road ahead for both of us

New Baja owner: wheels/tires size question

Hi, all!

I recently got my new (to me) ‘06 Baja Sport. Love it.

I have a question about wheels/tires. I know Baja comes with 16” rims standard.

Anybody here is running 17” wheels on their Bajas?

If I go to 17”, what tire size I should get?

Thanks!
