Never tried them but I can't see how they would. They limit safe top speed (or they fly out) and chew the pavement up which is why some places ban them unless there's nastiness out.

Re: What makes Subarus good in snow?

Don't get the idea we're saying drivetrain doesn't matter, it certainly helps in some situations it's just that it only helps accelerate and only if you know what you're doing, steer/handle. It doesn't help steer or brake which are more important than acceleration. In my RWD Cressida with a 5-speed,...

Re: Looking for stiffer shocks

How many miles on the struts? Have you considered they're just worn out? I have kings on my 03 with KYB struts (for the 03) which were fine other than my overloading (as in 800lb safe in the bed among other abuses) them a few times causing them to wear prematurely. FYI the taco strut uses the taco s...

Re: What makes Subarus good in snow?

Mostly ignorance and bad tires LOL Tires matter more than drivetrain but having a mechanically linked (like what's in the manual bajas) system is better for preventing loss of traction in many situations because power is spread to all the wheels first. In most modern computer controlled AWD systems,...

VIN numbers are not necessarily sequential so don't read too much into it.

Re: Considering buying a 2005 Turbo

Remember the banjo bolt is a secondary filter. It only fills up if conditions are such that dirt is bypassing the primary oil filter. IE revving on cold start, clogged filter, really bad oil, etc

Correct, the turbos use a MLS head gasket not prone to the external oil leaks the NAs get.

Re: Suspension help

I need to look into it for mine as well but early 00s front for the taco parts IIRC. You'll need the spring, strut, and adapter for the upper mounts.

Just for clarification, "sport" is the base model, not the fast one (for every manufacturer). "turbo" is the trim you have not "sport/turbo"

Re: Can I squeeze out another 1

I haven't been on Facebook in years ... Like 5+ at least. I'm not terribly concerned about axle life. They're relatively easy to replace and if I get at least 5+ years out of them I would be happy. I emailed ADF and he said I can go 4" as long as I have a front subframe spacer, steering shaft exten...

Re: Baja Turbo No Power over 1/3 Throttle Then Misfire at 4000 rpm

IF (and I say if) you are hydrolocked because of fuel, I would suspect injectors. For diagnostic starters, pull the vacuum hose from the FPR and see if fuel squirts out of the nipple. If that stays dry, consider (yes, consider, because we can't be sure over the internet - I've see way too many folk...

Re: Fixing sloppy shifter

Do you have the little spring that pulls the linkage sideways? Both my bajas are missing it and have sloppy shifters even though they're aftermarket and are otherwise tight. There's natural play in the linkage without the spring and no amount of bushings will help.

Re: Can I squeeze out another 1

clocking or indexing the bushings not the axles. when you change the resting point of the arms you need to loosen and retorque the bolts that hold the bushings to let the bushings settle at the new norm. Otherwise they'll be under torsion at rest and will tear sooner. Nowhere in primative's page is ...

Re: Baja Newbie in Oregon.

Strut spacers do lift the suspension, what exactly are you looking for? It's been covered quite a few times. the easiest thing applicable to all years is strut top spacers. If you have an 03, springs and struts from later years will provide some lift as well. King makes springs for the Bajas which a...

Never trust the store, they're just reading the top-10 suggested things for you to spend money shotgunning.

always always get the exact code number and bring it to us. for each component with codes there can be 2-10 different codes for it and they each have different troubleshooting trees.
