Re: Lock for Tonneau cover
Yes, I have a 2006 Baja turbo and took it to a place that specializes in caps and tonneau covers and they fashioned a lock with a latching arm for me. I think the franchise was called Cap World but most of those places can fix it for you...

Key Fob--remote lock & unlock doors problems
For some reason my key fob will unlock my 2006 Baja Turbo but won't lock it. I changed to the unused 2nd key fob I had and it does the same thing--unlocks but won't lock the doors. I can lock the doors by using the switch on the driver's door and closing it and the key fobs will unlock it but no go ...

Re: Broken Bed Cover lock/latch & no Subaru replacement part
I did speak with Ozzbros and they still make a bed cover for $695 but do not supply the locks for the original cover. They said the lock for the Ford Sport Trac may work so I'll check into that.

Broken Bed Cover lock/latch & no Subaru replacement parts
The shaft of the bed cover lock broke and my dealer contacted Subaru who said that there are no replacement parts available.
Anyone have an idea how I can rig a replacement lock/latch for the bed cover?

Re: Funny smell when using heater
It is not normal and if it smells like burning plastic it is not mold or mildew and is most likely a short. I'd have it checked out if you smell it again because if it is a short it could cause a fire.

Re: To snow or not to snow
Yes, I do. They're great in the rain as well. I live in Maryland and we get everything from slushy snow to ice to hard pack. These tires perform so well that I keep them on all my cars year 'round. I've used them on a Volvo wagon, a VW Passat and my Baja. Very good performers, handle well, good trac...

Re: Need to change tranny fluid & differential oil?
That $140 sounds a lot more reasonable than the $270 my dealer quoted me for it. I'm thinking I'll just take it to an independent repair shop or tranny place and have them do it instead. Changing Diff fluid and tranny fluid isn't rocket science...

Re: Need to change tranny fluid & differential oil?
Thanks for the responses--I don't tow anything so I should be OK, but I think I will have the fluids changed since I like to keep and drive my vehicles for a long time. I'll change it now and again at 70K.

Need to change tranny fluid & differential oil?
The Subaru dealer says I should change the tranny fluid and front & rear differential oil at 30,000 miles. My regular mechanic says it isn't necessary. Anyone know whether it is important to change or just another dealer profit margin up-sell?

Re: The stink of it all...
Just use the setting one position to the left with the AC and Recirc on. It will send air to the defroster and also to the floor but works just as well as the defrost only setting and you can select your fan speed as well. Chuck I use the climate control button that circulates air flow to the car to...

Re: OBD Codes Help: Intake manifold runner codes
After two more starts (trips) when the car was warmed up pretty good the codes cleared themselves. I forgot to mention that in addition to the codes the cruise control switch was blinking and cruise control didn't work. After they cleared themselves everything has been running normally since. Go fig...
