F/S: Baja goodies (Phoenix area)

My Baja is gone and I'm cleaning out the garage. I found a few goodies that need a new home, so what do you need? I have: Engine oil filter p/n: 15208AA12A, blue, made in Canada, still in its shrink-wrap Cabin air "refiner" (that's what the box says!), p/n 72880XA00A, in its box PCV valve,...

Re: Coolant in oil...help please!

My first thought was that you are seeing Seafoam in the oil. IOW, that you put in too much too fast via the intake, or too much in fuel or oil (or wherever it was put). My second thought was that you got too much in too fast during intake treatment and blew the HG. To check the HG, do a compression ...

Re: FS in AZ: 2005 Baja turbo A/T

Oh, maybe, but I'd rather let the truck ad run a while to see whether someone wants the whole thing. Hidden Hitch still sells them, I believe(?).

Re: Do Timing Belts need changed in Subaru's?

You're welcome! If this is something you'll be having a mechanic do (that's perfectly fine, of course), be aware that it is a somewhat expensive service, at least at many shops. I do my own maintenance and repairs unless I just don't have the space or tools needed (ex-farmer; used to working on anyt...

Re: Towing a camper

The Baja is factory-rated to tow more than that. You need trailer brakes both by law and because it's just good sense for a trailer of that weight. You'll probably want electric brakes rather than 'surge' brakes, just because many times 'surge' brakes are not designed to let you easily lock them oit...

Re: Do Timing Belts need changed in Subaru's?

I wouldn't describe them as "an issue" in the sense that the term means "problem" these days. They are a routine maintenance item, though. Replacement interval is 105k miles, and the risk of not ever replacing the belt is that if it breaks you'll bend valves and face a costly rep...

Re: Differential bearings, reduction gear

11bangbang, check CV joints first, then wheel bearing(s). Don't go looking at the diff until you've eliminated these two other, much more common failure points.

Re: Taking off turbo altogether, is it possible?

Two parts to my answer-- Part I: Something else is wrong. The turbos on these motors are durable, so if they're failing, the issue lies elsewhere. Look at things like--> 1) Plugged, kinked, or otherwise-restricted oil lines or screens/filters, 2) Low oil pressure (could be due to reason 1, or could ...

Re: need 2" hitch receiver recommendation

OP, can you please elaborate on what the issue is? The Baja will easily tow what you're wanting to tow. Is the trailer you want to tow set up for a ball hitch? If so, are you having trouble locating a ball of the correct diameter, with a sufficiently small shank? I bet I/we could help you very quick...

Re: Anyone convert their Baja to run on E85?

I've run my '05 turbo on E-85 before. Just don't ever try WOT and you won't even get a CEL/MIL. The turbo Baja's EJ-255 _almost_ has enough ECU authority to run it as-is. Not quite, though. The turbo engine's low static compression ratio does make cold idle pretty low, and sometimes it'll die. Once ...
