OK while I am sure you had fun
I have to say I dont think you were even near to
"Pushing the Offroad Limits" of the Baja

Heck there was even something of a road there
not a very good one, I will admit, but a track of some sort nonetheless

I am not about to try to beat your experience in my brand new Baja
So I can't really prove my assertion

but, many years ago in my Eagle SX4 I stunned other offroaders
by keeping up with them in a small car with independent suspension

I wish to suggest that our Bajas are much more capable than we may think
and to truly "push the limits" you will have to simply try harder

yes our bajas can pull off alot more than most people think i have never gotten it stuck and i have done some pretty bad ass inclines and mud holes. When I go though I have a friend that drives a nissan fronteir and I go in first to test the ground. never offroad alone.

i gently agree. not a flame at all, but our crucks are capable of much more than driving down a muddy path. unfortunately where i live, i don't have many offroad opportunities, so i have to test the limits in creative fashions, like tearing down a curvy highway at 75 mph in a bad snowstorm (works like a charm) while others are fishtailing at a paltry 30 mph. not the safest thing and i don't recommend it, but i had to validate having awd. i love my cruck.

It wasnt about getting stuck, there were too many large rocks that would have damaged the underside or bumper....a few feet after this pic there was a couple that sat up out of the road far enough that it couldnt make it over them (and no way on the sides to go around). There really wasnt mud, mostly wet rocks (luckily most were small) Bajas need more ground clearance!!

I wasn't suggesting your off road ride was easy
It does in fact look like a challenge

Just not at the Full Limit of the BAJA's capabilities :)

and missing/damaged skidplates
sure beat wrecked suspension parts

I "Almost" learned that the hard way

And what ive noticed really hurts the off road performance are the very shallow approach and departure angles. :(

This one didnt do any damage, we learned from our last experiance (just a broken splash guard then). We did stop and turn around a bit further up as the rocks got too big to go over and there was no safe way around them. Funny thing, that's actually a road-with a name and everything. It isnt a dead end either, so the next time we're up that way we're going to try it from the other end to see how far we can get that way. A few more inches of clearance and we'd have made it no problem. It had absolutely no problems with the wet rocks either-I did get a chance to "watch" the "wheels that slip to the wheels that grip" aspect though, when I was guiding my husband by the bigger rocks from outside the truck.

Nice pics Blaze, I did something like this up north 2 years ago, but I fell into a hole and blew off pieces of bumper, skid plate, etc. It was fun though. And besides the skid plate plastic junk, it just popped back into place pretty much. Nut it did leave a few scares on the right front. Oh well, thats the price for havin fun!! Mike
