Oh man, forgive me for contributing to an oil thread, but I can't help it.
Just for the record, my ex is still driving the 1998 Forrester we ordered and bought new the first month it was released for sale in the US.
We changed the oil after the first 1k miles and have used NOTHING but M1 for the entire life of the vehicle so far.
With 158k miles on it, the little bugger still runs and feels like new!
Not a single engine problem to date.
I'm planning on doing the same with the new Baja we pick up this week.
