Brake Hose(s) Hunt
Hello,
As preventative maintenance I am replacing the rubber brake hoses on my ’03 Sport. With that, I went to the dealer to buy/order them and was informed that only one is available. I then searched a few online dealers and found the same thing. At the same time I have yet to confirm whether there are 4 or 5 hoses that make up the system so the picture gets muddier…
So, first off, how many hoses are there and secondly does anyone have any recommendations on manufacturer and/or vendor? I have found several manufactures and associated prices all over the spectrum which isn’t helping the cause much.
Any insight, clarification or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Morgan

Re: Brake Hose(s) Hunt
The diagram actually shows (6) hoses. Specifically, #’s 3, 4, 8, 10, 11, and 13.
Appears that rear lower = rear outer in some descriptions, which may help tell some of the options apart. Inherently, this suggests that rear upper = rear inner. It also appears that these parts are not right- or left-hand specific like the front hoses are. So, (2x) rear lowers, (2x) rear uppers, and (1ea.) front right and front left for 6 total.
RockAuto currently shows options for all 6 as available, albeit from potentially varying manufacturers. Centric, Dorman, Dynamic Friction, Raybestos, or Sunsong all look like they could provide all hoses if you wanted to stick with a single manufacture.

I've ordered sets for three different cars from this seller. Better than OEM and any color you want!
https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_dkr=1& ... nkw=subaru
There's a set listed for the 00-04 legacy but message them and they can take care of you.

so i bought the SUB-1130 kit. they fit the baja but if you have a lift you need to request a longer set. they can make them in +2+4+6 etc.

Thanks for the follow-up.
I printed the diagram that 20Baja06 posted and passed it to my mechanic. Gave him the car last week and said, "do the voodoo that you do."
Don't know what brand he went with. Expect to find out sometime this week.
Thanks again,
Morgan

the individual lines are easily had on rockauto for around $10 each so id imagine they are going to use similar. i prefer to just upgrade to braided.MLastovo wrote: ↑Sun Jun 23, 2024 5:08 pm Thanks for the follow-up.

What baja do you have? I think the brake lines are different for turbo and NA. Also, doesn't an 03 sit a bit lower?

if you look up the parts some are the same for all years and model of baja. some show multiple years of other cars. the differences are very minor, they pretty much all fit. the dorman and other aftermarket numbers cross over to every model.
i bought a set meant for a legacy gt and they work.

I installed the SUB-1120 kit from Techna-Fit on my 2003 NA. Contacted Techna-Fit directly back in 2015 and that's the one they said I needed.
