Bed Cover

Post by jaxed »

How about somebody come up with some plans for a do-it-yerself (hard) bed cover. I think plexiglass would be cool, but that doesn't sheild your shizz from prying eyes. hrmmmm...

I think someone that has experience laying fiberglass could make a pretty slick cover... Way cheaper than whatever SOA charges for em.

While they are at it they could make one for my brat

Ok, since nobody here has the gumption... I am going to make my own bed cover.

First, I am going to make a frame out of PVC pipe that will sit on top of the bed.

Second, I will find some material (perhaps even plywood) to cover the frame. They key is it has to be light.

Hey jaxed, the prob will be getting the thing to seal tight enough so it won't leak. I haven't given it any thought yet, too much other stuff goin on all the time here. I went nutz with cap tape on the soft tonneau, to try to keep the water out. Works a bit, still comes in around the darn bars though. Mike

ozzbrothers hard bed covers are on EBAY now for $555. They look nice, but how do they fit and work?

I have an ozzbros cover and love it. Simple to install, looks great, and keeps my bed dry and secure. I purchsed mine thorough my dealer and they were selling them for $525 with no shipping cost to me. They parts guy gave it to my for someting like $480ish.

I paid around 580.00 with the optional strike plate. It is easy to maintain, install, remove and it is pretty close to waterproof. It also make my Baja look really sharp.

The pictures of the Ozzbros cover make it look like the liner on the underside is a piece of carpet thats been glued on. Has anyone had problems with that peeling off or with the fabric at the corners coming apart?
