Map lights hooked to dome light mod?

Stumbled across this mod for the Legacy and am thinking something similar might work for our faithful Bajas:

havn't tried this but i've been looking for a way to tap into the dimming feature. i want to install leds just behind the outside handles so that when you hit the unlock button the handles are backlit.

well i tapped into the door clearance lights when I made up my underdash vanity lights, they only go on when the doors are opened, so you could tap off that for the ones in the map lights i guess.... sounds interesting...... and a pic for reference..........

the trick posted is for when you hit the unlock button on the remote. the dome light comes on and after a while fades off. in the baja the dome light covers pretty well but in the wagons it tends to get lost, so the mod makes it so that the map lights and the dome light come on and fade off.

my thought is to hook leds up that would be behind the outside handles like audi's. so when the remote unlock is hit you can see the handles in a dark lot.

i like your hook up and might do that as well.

aaaah, the outside of the door, ok makes sense now, that would be totally cool. you should do it!!

now i just have to do some testing to see if that wire only recieves the on and fade voltage. if so i'll do it and post up.
