05 non turbo a/t, averaging 13-15mpg right now. Driving style pretty reserved, mostly city with a llittle highway.

Wow something is seriously wrong. any codes?SVO1 wrote:05 non turbo a/t, averaging 13-15mpg right now. Driving style pretty reserved, mostly city with a llittle highway.

No codes, thermostat works fine. Ltft is at 1.1%. Main issues are that it's a low compression hybrid that isn't boosted at the moment, and it has been well below zero and lots of snow here.

So far we are 2000+ miles into our 3000 mile trip, and with a full load of luggage, and two adults/two kids we are averaging 27.3mpg. Mainly all highway, been below zero/ice storms all the way unto the 80's at the beach. Not bad!
Re: Subaru Baja MPG thread
With no boost in town kills it. Just got the best tank ever, 28.3. Kept it under 3k when cruising, and only hit one small traffic jam, but it was 98% highway.
Re: Subaru Baja MPG thread
Something must be seriously wrong with my Baja... I got it last year, and the mpg has always been awful. It's a 2005 Turbo AT, always run premium. Even when I baby it, I have trouble cracking 17mpg. Typically it's around 15. I've replaced the plugs, checked tire pressure, and replaced the intake. It has 95kmi on it, so next will be the 100k tune, but what else can I do? I plan on getting alignment checked out next oil change.

Engine air filter changed? What oil do you use? I would expect around 20 average.
Re: Subaru Baja MPG thread
not the filter. just installed a freshly cleaned k&n intake. use mobil 1 synthetic 5w30.

Hmmmm. Thinking on it.

Something is definitely wrong, I have the same vehicle and get 25....no matter how i drive it....
Re: Subaru Baja MPG thread
Wow. Multiple people responded. I would expect a non turbo to average about 25
Re: Subaru Baja MPG thread
well it is a Turbo. it's a 2005 4-speed automatic with sportshift. I typically just keep it in drive and don't have a problem (besides the gas mileage that is). But obviously, something is wrong if I'm getting 15mpg on average. thermostat was also replaced, so I can't imagine it's running too rich.tomato_88 wrote:Wow. Multiple people responded.
