Re: Starting a new modification. Custom Grill!
Thanks, its actually my 2nd grill. The first attempt, I sanded it down and painted it black with special paint but it just kept chipping and looked like hell. So I ordered another grill and got the mesh from Grille Guy.com. The mesh was under $40.

Wow both of those are lookin good! I was considering doing this to mine but was a little afraid to go chopping on my grille though...

I know I'm a lil late on this, but that grill looks leh bomb.
I was thinking about doing something like that, but I wasn't sure if I was handi-capable enough for it...

I did something similar on mine, cutting out the crossmembers. I removed the center one though...I used fiberglass to bridge the gaps, and bondo to smooth it for paint.

I'm in the middle of doing this, what kind of epoxy did you end up using? I was thinking about going the bondo route, but your method might end up being a little easier if I can def sand the epoxy.
Also, where did you get your mesh?

Re: Starting a new modification. Custom Grill!
Anyone got any good recommendations for a product to use to fill the cut out plastic gaps in the grill once I do this? I have played around with plastic weld stuff (came in a chalk like tube) but haven't ever tried fiberglass... There is just so much to choose from on ebay
I like it here....

Fiberglass for support, bondo to fill. I plan on doing this sometime. But leave the chrome trim.
