Hi, all!
I recently got my new (to me) ‘06 Baja Sport. Love it.
I have a question about wheels/tires. I know Baja comes with 16” rims standard.
Anybody here is running 17” wheels on their Bajas?
If I go to 17”, what tire size I should get?
Thanks!

Re: New Baja owner: wheels/tires size question
I swapped out my OEM 16" wheels for 17" Crosstrek wheels and tires. Have not have any problems.

I use tirerack.com to see what their suggestion for +1" tires. That way your speedometer is closest to being accurate.

Thanks. I found website that provides comprehensive comparison of tire sizes and offers suggestions on the best matches: TireSize.com
If people want to go with 17” rims, then the best match for standard 225/60R16 will be 225/55R17.

Re: New Baja owner: wheels/tires size question
I'd read the reviews on the usual tire websites from purchasers before you buy.
I bought some Sumitomo HTR A/S P02's and they handle great on freeway and on dirt roads. If I was going to do offroading, I would purchase some aggressive tires suitable for that, and have them on a spare set of wheels. And keep great handling, all season, road tires on the car for the 99% of the time I'm on pavement.

Re: New Baja owner: wheels/tires size question
I have 2003 Baja. I’ve heard the later models have more clearance, but would my 03 be able to run the 17” crosstrek wheels with 225/55/17 tires? Size is essentially the same.
With all stock, what’s the biggest tire I can run? Wanting to go taller and something more aggressive.

I have Crosstrek wheels on my '03 w/ 225/55/17. They fit perfectly. I'm not sure if you can get much bigger of a tire on without lifting it though.Arkie wrote: ↑Thu Oct 01, 2020 6:36 pmI have 2003 Baja. I’ve been running on ‘11-‘13 WRX limited wheels with 235/50R17, if you are considering going ‘big’ in the width direction. 8” does well in my world. The bonus is they fit over the OEM 4/2 pot brakes.
