I want to cheat on.... (pics included)
What can I say, I know it has an asymmetric drive train, high center of gravity. I realize that but there is just something about this truck that turns me on... do you think I could cheat on my Baja without it knowing? I'd hate to devastate the little guy but its just one of those trucks that you know could rock your world.
Anywho, if I needed a full size truck my eyes would be going from truck to pocketbook at 6000 RPM

Yeah, I have seen several of these in person now and they are pretty sweet!

I found my new hope in cheating on my Scooby...I have always been a VW guy 1st and foremost and I hope that this comes to fruition in the US...

The Ford F-150 SVT Raptor
My wife really wants an Avalanche. I told her if we were going to spend $40,000, I'd go with the Raptor. After seeing it, she said "ok".
Downfall is that new trucks come with new truck payments. Think I'll just stick with the Cruck!

While the VW looks nice and will most likely drive fine. I would never buy one as the cost of maintenance for newer VW is just too much.
I had a new beetle and the annual factory maintenance was over $2000 a year.
Compared to the Subaru or my Mazda they just cost too much to maintain unless you are rich.
They do drive nice. They are just not simple low cost machines the original Beetle was.
The Ford looks nice. That new payment and the fact they still drive like a truck vs sedan would turn me off.

honestly....I work at a VW dealer and the Beetle is the LAST VW I would ever consider owning. I'd rather have an old Air Cooled VW that I have to work on every weekend to keep it running than a new Beetle. That being said, the cost of maintenance/ownership on most vehicles isn't cheap nowadays. You either look at paying more for maintenance in the short term to care for it properly, or you pay more in repairs long term from not doing maintenance as spec'd by the manufacturer from what I have seen. While there is no perfect vehicle that is a balance of all of this, my Scooby is pretty close, but it doesn't give me the same inner hotness about itself with some of it's specific shortcomings or idiosynchrasies. That is what moreso makes me look around and see what else is out there on the market. Sure I get shit from some people occasionally that I work at a VW dealer and drive a Subaru ( both from at work and motorcycle friends and other groups of friends), but for the utilitarian needs/wants that I have, this was the closest to meeting them all when my 1983 Rabbit Pick-up truck died. I do have my old reliable Jetta, but once again, sometimes it goes back to what I'd want and that is a car I had to get at the time and sacrificed my old Scirocco for, so I won't part with it till I have to.Alpha Wolf wrote:Zooom wrote:

I did cheat. The Baja is now a daily driver that is helping me to gather parts for my project vehicle.

People wouldn't have to cheat if Subaru would make a new pickup!

add " with a custom fox racing suspension that has more than a foot of travel and I'll be faithful to the endAyrton Senna wrote:People wouldn't have to cheat if Subaru would make a new pickup!

awwwwwwwwww, who needs to cheat? I'm going to have modifying my Baja! Get lifted, new bumpers, skid plate, snorkel system, lights, graphics, etc. You could have quite a bit of fun playing with the cruck. Well, I'm a 100% Baja addict so what can I say?
Re: I want to cheat on.... (pics included)
Cheat, I did that to mine already. Bought a 06 Ram 1500 in April. Need it to tow the 4 wheelers which are too much for the Baja now.
My dad is now driving my Baja, I hardly ever get to drive it unless I take it to work to change the oil on it. Still drives great at 145,000 miles, and still looks great. He really likes it.
And still has the original battery in it, waiting for it to crap out soon.
