Sticking throttle pedal

Post by keith »

on cold mornings my wife's 03 NA gas pedal is VERY hard to depress untill the engine is warm. Once its warm operates fine. I don't remember it ever doing this before this winter. Any thoughts?

How many miles do you have on the Baja?? It could be the throttle body needs all the crap cleaned out of it. We have this same problem on Dodge Caravans at work. Take the throttly body off and clean it out with carb spray. You will need a new gasket, as the old one is a paper style and should not be reused.
I cleaned my throttle body at about 85,000 miles just to do it, I was having no problems at all, but it sure had a bunch of crap in it.

Could be. We try to do them at work at about 30,000 miles, by then they are usually crudded up. On a Dodge, it depends on how much PCV vapors get sucked into it just behind the throttle plate. That usually makes it pretty dirty at 30K.
