Reputable replacement Head Gasket and Ignition parts?

Post by miniaustinmini »

Well my '05 Baja is in the shop for the oil in the spark plugs issue, and while it's there they want to bundle the head gaskets and timing belt with the valve cover gaskets and ignition stuff they are already doing.

My question is what are known good brands for all of these items? I know I can beat dealership prices on parts, but I don't wan't to end up with something that going to die in 20K, or even not compatible.
Head Gasket Kit?
Valve Cover Gasket Kit?
Plug Wires?
Ignition Coil?

Thanks!

Just make sure that whatever head gasket you settle on the description reads Multi Layer Steel (MLS). That was the solution to Subaru's long standing HG failure issues. OEM gaskets on non-turbos might be subject to failure. OEM MLS gaskets on turbo models don't fail regularly. You can research the need for new head bolts. Many experienced builders reuse them and others don't.
