New to Subaru... but, not cars in general...
Been doing ton of reading, looks like an interesting car, relatively simple by today's standards.

Our requirements...
~$10k / ~100k miles
Will travel and drive car back to Mi.
Manual Transmission required
Turbo and NA are options.
Towing setup
CLEAN, no panel rust, minimal under body, I will protect properly for Mi driving.
I would like to toy with this a bit and don't mind working on it, but, would like to avoid pulling the heads or replacing the timing belt right off the get go, so having that done would be nice.
More than willing to fix loosened suspension parts, exhaust, brakes, general service as I'll likely be doing that just for fun.
If I do get into a Head Gasket job right away, do I have to pull the engine or can it be done installed? I've heard mixed answers, first hand knowledge would be great.
Since I may be buying via internet, where do I need to have owners/dealers show pictures that are the "rusty" spots or anything else to help me out.
Questions I've been sending to ppl so far in the search:
Any proof on the work done receipts etc… would be very beneficial.
Include the CarFax report please.
Rust issues?
Can I see pictures of the underside?
• Door bottoms
• Hinge areas doors and gate
• Corners /front end nooks and crannies of engine compartment
• Exhaust and Hangers
• Strut towers
• Frame underneath
Head gasket replacement, been done yet (problematic on this engine)?
Timing belt replacement?
Timing belt tensioner replacement/upgrade?
Strut condition ever replaced/rebuilt?
Brake Rotors/Brake job last done?
Tire condition/mileage/size/make model?
Any aftermarket parts &/or modifications?
Looking at buying....
