Hey everybody, I havent posted on here for some time but I was wondering if anyone has every been hit in their Baja?
I was just involved in an accident where another driver went through a red light and hit me on the passenger side, directly in the B pillar. I was stopped at an intersection with a left turn lane waiting to turn, I had to wait for a crossing guard to bring a few people across the street I was turing onto. She was still in the intersection when the light turned red. Once she crossed I looked at the on-coming traffic and saw only one car stopped for the light and no other cars moving toawards me. As i turned I was broadsided but a '90 civic two door, driven by a 16 year old. It hit me so hard a witness thought I was going to flip. The impact was focused on the lower half of my B pillar, both doors are wedged closed, the cladding on both doors fell off, and my rear drivers side tire blew out. So what Im wondering is should I expect frame damage or are impacts in this area repairable. This is the first accident Ive been involved in, and my first new car, which I haven't even had for a year yet so needless to say Im a little upset. Any advice you guys can give me would be appreciated.

Yes. Doubble rear ended. Someone hit the person behind me, into me. Knocked the clips outta my rear bumper.
Ugh...Odd how that door glass didn't explode. But looks like you're gonna say hello to 2 new doors. There isn't really a frame, so to speak, since our cars are unibody. Hopefully the floorpan isn't bent all up. Our B pillars are strong like bull;) So hopefully, they saved your floor. Good luck man and keep us updated:)
First thing is glad to see your Baja kept you safe. Second thing is what kept you safe is going to make the repair tricky if the b pillar is damaged , look at this thread -http://www.toronto-subaru-club.com/foru ... hp?t=94794
The famous Subaru RING FRAME was heavily at work in your accident. The testimonies that have sprung up here and at NASIOC.com regarding the strength of Subaru's frame are powerful indeed.
Glad you are ok... if your car gets totalled, you can get another Atlantic Blue if you act quickly.
PS... you can kind of tell how clean the doors would look without that pesky cladding. I know towards the very rear where the body panels are Baja-dedicated that isn't the case -- but boy would the Baja have looked smart without it's cladding.
I got rear ended (insert joke here) at a pretty good clip. Got out of the car and could not find a scratch or any indication that the bumper was pushed in. Amazed actually, i have been hit that hard before by a similar truck (cherokee) and had $2000 + damage in two other cars (why is it i keep getting hit by jeep cherokee's ?)
Glad your OK- Now on to the Baja- OUCH_ But it did it's job HUH- absorbed the impact and kept you safe- Now there is no frame- As stated- the floorpans hopefully are ok!) the doors can be replaced- make sure to check the alignment of the windows in the rubber gaskets (MAN it is really amazing those windows didn't burst!) the windows need to come up to the gasket TIGHT!!! also because the tire was flatened make sure the AWD system is given a very careful inspection- I have a feeling there may be some drivetrain issues as these cars are not meant to be pulled sideways- ALso make sure the insurance company replaces all 4 tires- as the side ways motion of the impact will most definatly have caused the belts to shift in all the tires (and that won't show up in wear or vibration for a few months!) I was in a similiar accident as yours (not with the Baja but my Ford Escort) except I T-boned the other guy (who had run a stop sign!) A very scary and nerve racking expierence- Not one I want to relive!

Thanks for the input. As of now it's at the shop waiting for the insurance adjuster. I'm pretty surprised the windows didn't burst aswell. You can't see it in the pics but the back one is actually separated from the rest of the car by about an inch. I didn't even think about possible drive train problems but I'll have to check into that. Thanks again everyone.
I was sideswiped by an 18 wheeler in September - we were both on the freeway going 60 MPH. The Baja really took it like a man - I felt like I was driving a much bigger rig. The body shop put a new door on and replaced the cladding.

I havent been on for a while but its funny this post is up here...i JUST got my BAJA back from someone hitting me and then running in the mall parking lot...according to the body shop they had to be going at least 25-30 mph
I was involved in a road-rage incident with a Ford F-150. The "chick" drove her truck down the whole side of my car.
I later put a few things together to figure out that the chick had some relationship to someone on the police force in the town where the accident happened..... After my insurance company got done with her, she paid not only for her damages but mine as well as my deductable.
My front door speakers still do not work today, and I have not had time to look into why. I've moved states, and no longer near the repair shop to have them look at it.
