I finished up some details last night; pitch rod mount, rear wheel well trimming, refilled the coolant, re-installed the intercooler and took it for a spin around the cauldesac and it feels very solid. The STi front brakes are on but I ran into a glitch on the rears so they are stock for now. The issue is the hub carrier is present exactly where the adapter bracket for the Brembo needs to go, that part is not present on a WRX which is what the adapter is intended for. So Brembo rears are not a bolt on. I am going to have to pull the hubs and fabricate a caliper mount so that will likely get bumped to the end of the project. Next up is front wheel well mods and then drop it at the exhaust shop to get a 3in to the tail bent up.

I have only a few things to wrap up; trim and re-install the mud flaps, back to the tuner to clean up a few minor issues, a tube bumper, and something I am sure I will remember later. The truck pulls like my 04 STi after I did the turbo back and a tune, but before the turbo swap and other work. My goal was to be STi fast even with the bigger tires, achievement unlocked! I will do a ride alone video at some point. A few bits that others have asked about were the wheel well mods and the exhaust, here are the pics.

But first, a pic of it after a rather spirited drive into work today:

I wish the light was more helpful, when I get it back on the lift I will take better pics. This is the exhaust, it tucks in as high as it can and flows next to the tranny mount with a flex section on the down pipe, crosses over near the mid bearing on the driveshaft and hops over the suspension and out the back, 3 in all the way with an SRS muffler in the stock location, the downpipe itself is an Invidia for about the first foot, custom after that.

This is the rear of the front wheel well, about 1in was cut back and the seam pounded flat. This is before re-installing the mud flaps (maybe next week) so you can see the detail.

I wish I could quantify what is being sucked up by the larger tires, but I can't fit stock sizes over the STi brakes.

We Baja Turbo owners have an axle problem, almost every place lists the wrong axles and most aftermarket axles are nowhere near as good as the Subaru OEMs. After upping my HP and giving my 160k mile axles a beating on the dyno I could feel them starting to go. After looking around I found a solution that seems to be perfect, stronger than stock, as much range of travel as stock, and as luck would have it half the price. I called 1A Automotive about the Autopart International severe duty axles they listed for the Baja Turbo and explained my concern they might be incorrect and they took the time to look up stock spline, length, ABS ring, etc. specs and got back to me saying they matched, I was ready for something to be wrong but they installed perfectly and no surprises. They are much thicker than stock and weigh a good deal more. Part numbers are in the pic.

Thanks for the info with specific part numbers! Wish there was more unambiguous information about Baja part fitment/compatibility... as well as companies who are willing to go the extra mile to physically confirm instead of relying on websites' compatibility info.

Do you happen to know if these would be fine for NA Bajas too?

Moments later...
I just did some research and from this search url
http://www.1aauto.com/2005-subaru-baja- ... 005-954-84 see there are upgraded versions for non turbos.

Thanks for finding this site, I would not have thought to look for an upgraded version.

They also sell on eBay and at least on the version I bought it was cheaper and had free shipping, so it might be worth your time to check.
