MUDRAT DESIGN AND FAB.....BUMPERS LIFT KITS AND ROOFRACKS...

Post by mudrat79 »

Hello, To All....

So after Chatting With Ryan ( snorkeled) Last nite About his Baja...He told me I needed to get on here and Let you guys and Gals know I am still around and kicking....

I know alot of you Folks are East Coast.....

I had a Thought about Lift kits and Bumpers and Such.....

Here is My proposal.....

IF.....We can get Enough of you together in one area, Say within 100-150 miles of each other....
And IF......we can Find a Large Shop to do it in......I would be willing to Drive to a Destination and Do Installations Of Lift Kits and Bumpers.....For a week at a time......

It takes 10-12 hrs for me to Install a 4" Lift kit with someone who is kinda mechanical helping me....

My thoughts are if Someone Wanting to get a Kit from me has the Shop space to do it in, then we make that a hub.....and 10 people meet there to do the Work.....
I would bring my truck and Trailer Full of parts ready to be installed, as well as My Tools of the trade to make things flow faster....I have A Dodge Diesel that gets 18-20mpg....Towing
the Reason for getting 10 People together is that instead of you paying the shipping on the goods, I will have you pay the Fuel cost....The Closer to the West Coast you are the Groups could possibly get smaller.....?

As an example.....Eugene to Washington Dc....2800 miles one way divided by 18mpg. is 156 gals. of Fuel one way.....If you figure 4.00 a gallon, that works out to 624.00 in Fuel one way or 1250.00 round trip.....
And then there is Eats and Sleep.....??

So with that being said....here is what I would be willing to do from my end....I will write a list of What I have to offer....I will put that List in the Vendors Section if The Mods will let me....??

And then we can go from there.....

What I need from All you BAJA owners is Places to do the Installs Preferably with a Lift....?
Also, I can do ther Lift Kit on a Forester Or Outback as well....? So if you know someone with one let them know...

Let the Comments start ......

Welcome to the forum John. I don't think I could afford to have you come out to Vermont to do an install for me. But I would be interested in just buying your wares to install myself.

I'd loooove to get a rear bumper, but don't think there's enough people around southeast PA to make it worth the trip??? I talked to John once about a rear bumper, but he needed a donor car to make a pattern as he did not have the original one still around... :(

I'm in Western WA but the only factor holding me up is the cost. :D When I can swing the money, I would be all over the lift.

I live in SE of and have a 30x40 garage. Ive got a fair amount fo tools but no auto lift yet.

I'm not sure id have much interest in the products but I'd have no issue loaning out the garage to get the installs done.

The picture I posted with the beer bottle under the rear diff was snug with the rear diff before I had the lift done. The difference is clear :D

Car looks great! I thought it would be higher though, that is the 4'' lift? Also what size are your tires? Congrats on the contest too!
