Re: Power seat track swap

Here's my experience: I had the stock vinyl "Baja" interior. My driver seat had a couple of splits on the bottom. I really didn't care for the vinyl, and I also felt it was giving the car a "plastic" smell (it was). I was in a boneyard buying parts for another Subie (we have 4), and I saw a Legacy (...

Re: Sub (second) fan

Having replaced DOZENS of these relays, I can tell you that sometimes they simply pop out, and sometimes you will pull the cover off the relay leaving the "guts" behind - then you grab it by the guts and replace it. For best results, when you do get it out, put a little dielectric grease in the slot...

Re: Suspension replacement questions

FWIW if you are doing ANY kind of lift, I suggest you loosen ALL arm ends - sway bars, trailing arm, whatever. This will allow the rubber cushions to pivot which: A. makes fitting the "longer" strut / spacer in a little easier, and B. to do it properly, "load" the suspension by having rear tires on ...

Re: Suspension replacement questions

The difficult part about it is you have to have a way (lever, etc.) to push DOWN on the lower arm to get the bottom bolt to go into the hole (I used a small scissor jack :D ). There s some trickiness ot removing the plastic around the rear seat (folded down) to access the upper strut bolts (2 on eac...

Re: Passenger side rear brakeline hole/leak: repair or replace complete lines?

If the mechanic doing the brake line repair has skill enough to cut the tube, make a flare and splice the section, I'd figure he is able to determine if the rest of the line(s) are good enough to hold up. I wasn't aware of any brake lines going through the firewall. Yes, bending and routing brake (a...

Re: Suspension replacement questions

I recently installed rear struts from an 05 Baja on my 03. It raised the rear by 1". It also appeared the springs were a slightly larger diameter. Dennis

Re: what is my Baja worth?

I still think your looking at $25k+ but with a truck that nice, low milage and that much after market,. You could easily make up a price near 30 and someone will probably try to negotiate with you. All I can say is that if this happens, PM me because EVERYTHING I have will be for sale and I want to...

Re: Got ripped off

I took the Baja to a local muffler and brake shop. Before I go any further, let me say that I'm not a gearhead, I'm just a regular guy with an infatuation for Bajas. I made the mistake of assuming I also assumed the response was simply, "it's all badly rusted." He left it at that. I could not conti...

Re: Lurker that wanted a Baja turbo

I agree with "Mike". You have to shop. My 03 NA Baja is right at 202K miles. AFAIK, I am 3rd owner. Original owners allegedly towed it behind a motorhome, but how many miles does one REALLY put on a motorhome? The second owner, a retired Subaru / Isuzu mechanic had the history of what he had done to...

Re: Fuel System Issue

Unless you know a whole lot more about fuel chemistry than I do, ethanol doesn't turn into water. It absorbs water rather than separating (like gas or oil) and creates more water in the combustion process than non-oxygenated fuel but it won't turn to water in the tank Not to argue chemistry, water ...

Re: Fuel System Issue

While I haven't checked my Baja yet (never really thought about it until now), all my other Subarus also have a fuel filter up in the engine compartment. Other possibilities could be any pinched or deteriorated lines in the fuel evaporative system, charcoal canister, etc. Dennis
