Re: 05 Baja turbo shortblock

outback suspension will drop the baja a few inches

probably that both have the tiptronic or sport-shift mode automatics. I really hate that those were ever invented.

I would have never thought of dropping it out the bottom without a lift anyway. I have done so (not on a subie though) before though.

Re: Front wheel hub assembly with bearings installed

No, the item you have linked won't work even close, it's a bolt-on hub. ours must be pressed in. the only way around that is to get a whole knuckle (if unknown condition) from the junkyard.

Re: Head Gasket replace? Or motor swap

The turbo can make a huge difference... or it can blow up the engine. or you can piss away a lot of time/money doing it wrong and it makes little difference. If you want to add a turbo, just spend the next year reading about doing it, then bother. If you want to start modding, great. First, buy a re...

Re: Help with Part Identificant

you took them out and put them back in and have it leftover or you took them out and don't remember where it goes (prior to reinstalling all)? or you just want to know what it is?

Probably goes under the center console.

Re: Head Gasket replace? Or motor swap

Bob, do you currently have a turbo or non-turbo (NA or naturally aspirated) car? if NA: Yes, six star is the company that makes the good replacements. I've also heard of using turbo gaskets (because they're MLS rather than composite) but can't verify. I would absolutely recommend repairing the exist...

Re: Gorilla Offroad Company

Hi, Thanks for the reply. I don't mind fielding questions in the open forum at all - more than appropriate as far as I am concerned. As for the CAI, Subaru uses two types of cold air sensors, maximum air pressure (MAP) and maximum air flow (MAF). The current version of our Top Mounted Cold Air Inta...

I removed mine completely and just keep Slime and air pump (off lighter) in rear seat panelling (with fire extinguisher - fits snug)Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pleas elaborate (picture?). I'm trying to figure out how / where to mount a fire extinguisher. Lack of a fire extinguisher is what c...

Re: 05 Baja turbo shortblock

awesome job getting us up to date. Wish more people would do so as completely as you did there. Transmision: wouldn't worry about physically fitting, there's a ton of space and it oughta be the same externally anyway. there *may* be issues getting the OB PCM to control the Baja turbo trans. I can't ...

Re: EZ30 Swap into a 2003 NA Baja

the engine and body harness are separate. you need to get the PCM and engine harness along with the engine and adapt a few pins/wires to your body harness.

Re: 05 Baja turbo shortblock

Sorry, my head's just spinning trying to figure out where you're going with this. What's your budget for the car all said and done? what did you pay for it (if you don't mind sharing) and what do you have left to work with? Did you know the engine was toast and planned to swap the NA in or did you b...

Re: 05 Baja turbo shortblock

Fun times. Many of my cars have been purchased non-running or with known issues. Some of the best deals for someone mechanically inclined. What's your goal with the car and the work you're doing? just having a working car? have a working car until you can put the right engine in? put the turbo bits ...

Re: Forester struts?

Well call me stubborn, but "I gots to know". Forester IS a good 300+ lbs lighter than the Baja (the aluminum hood can't make THAT much difference). Wonder where all the other weight is? I mean engine, trans, driveline is all basically the same (my automatic Forester probably weighs a bit more for t...

Re: LED Headlight Installation

I was basing my statement on observations in the wild: maybe 10% of the non-turbos I've seen in person or online have dual-lamp housings. Percentages aside, which it has is something handy to know when asking for advice or doling it out.
