Re: Pulsing / surging Baja engine

a generic OBD2 to bluetooth reader and the torque app on your phone would be enough to read live data.

Re: Pulsing / surging Baja engine

Since this is your first post, we don't know much about you. Do you have much skill or many tools for working on the car? How about electronics (where the problem likely lies)? Other than this issue, does it make power? fuel economy within normal? Any mods or is it stock? Maintenance up to date? All...

Re: Garage Lighting

I had a shop that had T-12 bulbs, they were bright enough, but ballast and bulb changing was constant. I decided to go the LED route, that was a mistake. They were expensive and didn't put out enough light. My new shop now has T-8 lighting, its very bright and in 15 years I have yet to replace a bu...

Re: Anybody ever changed a speedometer

It's not the mileage on the title (here, they ask for it on the registration each year). Its the words "NOT ACTUAL MILEAGE" that they put on the title that zaps value. And once it's on there, it won't go away. Almost as bad as "REBUILT" on a title. I did do a little searching last night and I saw w...

Re: How to read abs codes

ABS codes are not standardized like OBD2 codes. You need a scanner compatible with Subaru ABS systems. Beyond that, I got nothing sorry.

Re: Body shake

struts and bushings seldom CAUSE a shake. they may allow a shake caused elsewhere to be felt if they're worn though. shake means rotating or reciprocating parts. sometimes you can tell where it's coming from, sometimes you cannot. things to troubleshoot: -Check your tires, make sure nothings caught ...

Re: Anybody ever changed a speedometer

Eh, miles on the title don't affect the value because most people put all the miles on the car after getting the title. It only shows what the mileage was the last time it was transferred. Up here, anything over 10 years old isn't required to put the miles on the title and most DMVs won't put it in ...

Re: Anybody ever changed a speedometer

It's intentionally difficult/impossible to change the Odometer reading. To keep it legal, check your state for the details but most have a provision for replacement clusters. usually it means putting a sticker in the door jamb stating the cluster's been replaced and the difference. I don't know if S...

Re: Lurker that wanted a Baja turbo

Upon a very close examination of the intercooler I did find a few traces of metal, so there is more in there. I am contemplating getting a new inter cooler. Some say get a little more capacity, maybe a front mount. What would be the advantages of running a slightly larger intercooler with the stock...

Re: New Buy

Setting up the car you want or just modding for a bit of power seldom makes sense financially but that only matters if you sell it. I'd rather measure the car's value in miles and smiles.

Re: Lurker that wanted a Baja turbo

11 and 21 are both cam timing related, a plugged up banjo bolt could be the culprit as it's the same failure tree as the turbo oil starvation. Sounds like the dealership was all too happy to see the car gone. I would have to be only slightly more cynical to say they knew it was on it's way out and ...

Re: New member with "new" Baja

The under tray is also there for cooling reasons. It prevents hot air from recirculating through the rad/fans when stopped. that being said, if the bumper's intact, there's enough ducting in there it shouldn't be a critical problem. neither of my Bajas have ever had them. (and the mileage of both is...
