Re: Garage Lighting

What do you plan on doing in the garage? occasional oil change and swapping winter tires or serious repairs? Are the floor, walls, or ceiling painted? A white room needs less illumination than a dark colored one or one full of stuff. I have a dozen 4-tube fixtures and 3 2-tube fixtures in about a 2-...

Re: Fuel System Issue

Zubija: Turbos (and IIRC, later NAs) don't have a fuel filter in the engine bay. They only have the in-tank filter. I'm no mechanic, so here's my 2c: Did you drain the fuel tank when you changed the pump? I know it's not required as the pump is accessible from the top, but that's decade-old gas we'r...

Re: My baja

as for the bumper, depends on how close you want it to match... sawsall followed up with something to clean up the edges would get the job done but that bumper had different openings to start with too. Nice overall, but to me photo #2 seems to show you have a whole lot of front wheel toe-out. Did yo...

Re: 2003 Baja Leaking gear oil from the front diff.

Anything's possible. have to clean it off and see where it comes back.

Since the diff is inside the trans housing, look up what a new trans costs installed. or rather, ask your mechanic.

Re: Brumby Tonneau Cover

Bajas haven't been made in 13 years, weren't phenomenal sellers then, and require totally different tooling to build a cover for (smaller size). Sadly we're out of luck.

Re: Fuel Pressure Regulator Location

Flash it into an 04 STI and yes, a cobb would work. Tactrix/romraider supports the turbo bajas now as well. Nothing inherently better about tuning with one vs the other as long as the tuner knows what they're doing. FYI, if you're looking at AFR, higher numbers are lean, not rich. Where did you inst...

Re: 03 Baja exaust problems

I was getting 420 right away after every “fix” and reset we tried until I spaced the front sensor. Hasn’t happened again since. I’m not saying you’re wrong, but if that worked for me, what do you think was causing my 420 to trip? You might be able to ID my problem better. It’s been months without t...

Re: 2006 Baja Turbo Engine Removal

So I am looking at your engine picture and notice that it is the DOHC engine (similar to the EJ25 in my '98 Forester). Is this still a 2.5, or is it the 2.0 turbo I have heard about (JDM engine?). Never worried much about turbos as I feel like my NA Baja has plenty of pep. Dennis The turbos also go...

Re: 03 Baja exaust problems

What code are you actually getting? If it's P0420: sorry to bust your bubble airborneguy, but P0420 uses both sensors and you space out the rear sensor. P0420 is set (this is the much simplified method) by the ECM deliberately running the engine lean (as reported by the front sensor) till the cat's ...

Re: Looking at a 2005 Turbo

One thing I've noticed on my turbo Bajas which I don't see on my OBW is rusting/rotting of the engine cradle. I have 2 '04 turbos which both need the cradle replaced and my '05 which appears pristine everywhere else is showing surface rust on the cradle. In all instances the rust/rot is by where th...

Re: Rear differential fluid

Everything I read online says, no, don't put in an LSD additive. Yes, you do have a rear LSD (from the factory, anyway), but it's a sealed unit. The gear oil isn't getting to the LSD-specific parts. You just use the same 75W90 oil that's used for the transmission. This is correct. Even if you have ...

Re: Looking at a 2005 Turbo

Indiana uses salt on their roads, that might be what messed up the paint. I would get it on a lift and look over the underside for rust and rotted bushings. salt doesn't bother paint and certainly doesn't do THAT to paint. something poured on the mirror to do that. Salt causes rust which rots the s...
