Re: Car jerks when on or off gas

i've been trying to diagnose my noise issues. There is a shudder with mine, automatic, non turbo when starting from a stop. I can feel the thump/shudder center and behind me. I'm guessing its either/or the transmission mount worn out and the drive shaft center bearing rubber support. I'm also consid...

Re: Filled up coolant but it dropped back down in about a month

leaking water pump, leaking coolant hoses, leaking heater hoses, leaking gasket on thermostat (check this, another manufacturer's thermostat housing has an "O" ring that fails and the coolant leaks out very slowly like yours.

wheel bearing noise at 60-65 howling sound

I think I have a bad wheel bearing. Just need to determine which one. It howls around 60-65mph. I jacked it up and all wheels are tight with no play in them so the "jiggle/wiggle" test doesn't help. I'll jack up again and take the wheel off of each hub and then rotate and see if I can hear or feel a...

Re: Any experience with Coverking Neoprene seat covers?

If you are wondering about fit, I have a set of their spacer mesh seat covers for my Fiat 124 Spider. The seats came out of an 87 Honda CRX. It was much cheaper than having them reupholstered. I would imagine the neoprene would hold up better. I would avoid the spacer mesh material because it is sh...

Re: in cab latch and safety hood latch both failed and....

thanks everyone. I had the windshield replaced today. so happy to have my car back again. I had to drive the Porsche for a week since the Baja was down. Haha. I purchased a new hood from a great ebay vendor and the shipping company must have dropped it off the truck at some point. It had dents in al...

Re: in cab latch and safety hood latch both failed and....

My three bolts were tight. after I straightened the hood back out, both latches were secure. crazy. oh well. I have a new hood and a new replacement latching mechanism coming. New windshield is scheduled for a week from this coming Monday. They do have some aftermarket racing latches on ebay. I don'...

in cab latch and safety hood latch both failed and....

So, I have a car full of teenagers with me. I'm driving, and I proceed to pass a couple of large oil field semi's. So going 60-65, suddenly there is a loud crash and i can't see anything in front of me. I finally realize my hood latch came loose and the hood swung over and smashed the windshield nea...

Re: New to me, 2003 Baja - Hi!

Hello from Des Moines, IA. Just picked up this 2003 with 101k miles from N. MN. Luckily, its not a rust bucket and appears to have been taken care of so I'm happy. Put 400 miles on it driving back home today and it did great! (really could use another forward gear though!) Anyway, its great and I'm...
