Re: Crossbar T Slot???

The crossbars on my 2005 don't have a slot; I can't speak for any other year. My Baja is my 8th Subaru and none of the others: 83GW, 90Legacy, or any of my three Foresters or two Crosstreks had slots.

But wasn't it much easier to steer with the front wheels off the ground? :D

Re: Tail light assembly removal

I struggled with that, both on my Baja and my wife's Crosstrek. You've just got to get a firm hold on the taillight assembly--I used rubber gloves--and pull it straight to the rear. Be firm; it doesn't want to come out, but let it know who's boss.

Identify a connector, please

Today I replaced the battery on my '05. When I pulled the old battery up and out I saw an unused socket (2-conductor) on the wiring leading to the windshield washer pump.
Any idea what would plug into that?

Re: How to change a turn signal light walkthrough

Guacamole; Thanks. The video was very clear and a big help. My Baja is my 8th Subaru and it seems that with every new design the process of doing the little maintenance items just gets more and more complicated. I recently replaced a burned-out dash bulb and what a job it was! My 1983 wagon was pret...

Re: How to change a turn signal light walkthrough

The rear was complicated enough, but do-able. What about the fronts? :?

Re: Little poll. Are you a male or female baja owner?

Male, and probably the oldest of all you whippersnappers at 2 weeks shy of 81. Still young at heart and able to drive a 5-speed competently.

Re: IT'S COMING BACK!!!

From my perspective, this looks too generic. A near clone of Ford, Chevy, GMC, Nissan, Toyota
Tacoma, etc. I want to see something more Suby-funky, like the Hyundai Santa Cruz. Let's break some new ground!

Re: 05 Baja turbo shortblock

Ratfink; I discovered while building several boats from kits that most of the satisfaction comes from creative problem-solving when processes don't go quite as smoothly or easily as you think up front. I'm glad to hear that your Yankee Engineering served you well and you're well under way to having ...

Nor for me; it looks too much like a Honda Ridgeline. No Subie "Quirkiness."

Re: Seat covers

Guacamole: Thanks for the FSM pages. It looks like some major loosening/disassembly to get some clearance between the seat cushion and the metal plate with the seat back spring, etc. It appears that any straps crossing from side-to-side under the seat have to go inside the structure, if they're just...

Re: Seat covers

When installing Wet Okole covers on the front seats, is it necessary to permanently remove the plastic trim pieces on the outboard bottom sides of the seats, or can it be loosened and then replaced after all the under-seat work is finished?

Seat covers

I spent about 45 minutes trying to put an inexpensive seat cover on the driver's side of my '05 but there was just too much "stuff" under the seat for me to get all the straps, hooks and other stuff in place. I figure that for both front seats it would be about $100 worth of labor to install a $30 p...
