Re: Subaru Baja MPG thread

21mpg consistently on my 03 manual. How the heck are you guys getting more? Tires brand new, I run 87 and drive pretty tame. I have no issues I know of, runs like a top. Maybe a tune up? If you're doing exclusively city driving then that's normal. If mostly rural driving, definitely get it checked ...

Gotcha.
Oh that? I get bored and make animated signatures and rotate them every so often based on my mood and/or season.

Re: Very dim headlights

Here's the wiring diagram for the headlights: http://jdmfsm.info/Auto/Japan/Subaru/Ba ... System.pdf
Are you sure it's the bulbs that are dim or are the housings just getting foggy/not aimed correctly?

Re: Bed Cover still being made?

Haven't heard of Truxedo making one. There was a hardcover made by Penda too, but it was the rarest of them all and only a few pics exist. If you're going DIY, you can use the existing screw holes that hold the bed liner on the sides to mount brackets for a bed cover. The snuglid used this method: h...

Re: Rust!!!!

Hey there, those thin rails under the rockers are where the baja is supposed to be lifted from. How bad are the dents and are they at one end of the rail? If there's two small dents at one end of the rail, these are jack points and are there to indicate where you're supposed to place the jack. Using...

Re: Bed Cover still being made?

By the $750 one I assume you mean the Ozzbros one? That's the only bed cover still being made. All the others have been discontinued for quite some time now. You'll either have to go DIY or be lucky and snag one off Craigslist in the 5 second window it's listed before it's bought. Alternatively if y...

20 folding chairs and 4 6ft folding tables (under the chairs in the bed) today- it's amazing what you can fit in these little things.

Re: Drive train swap

Hey there! That's quite a project. I'm no mechanic so take this with a grain of salt: Firstly, I'm not entirely sure the drive train will be just a straight bolt-in swap. The Baja is based on the Gen-3 Legacy, and the 05 model year is when the Gen-4 production started for the Legacy, but the Baja wa...

Re: roof rack question

Hey there, unfortunately the crossbars are proprietary to the Baja... but fret not! Most crossbars that fit the Gen-1 Forester ('97-02) will fit the Baja as the rails are designed similarly. Yakima railgrabs will also fit, but they've been discontinued. See this thread for more info: http://www.scoo...

Re: Baja Turbo jerking on acceleration.

Could be several things but start with the easiest. 1. Are you using 91+ Octane fuel? Turbos need high-octane fuel to correctly operate. 2. Have you checked/replaced the vacuum hoses in case of a leak? 3. Is the car throwing any codes? If it is, it might be an 02 sensor going bad. 4. Is the car a ma...

Re: What did you do to your Baja today?

Installed a new catback exhaust. Originally went with a Walker midpipe and Bosal muffler, but the Walker pipe arrived full of unfinished welds with 1/2in holes. So now it's a full Bosal catback. DSCN1472.JPG My baja is so quiet now!!! Manifold still leaks but it's nowhere near as bad as the flex joi...

Hey there, what year Baja do you have? Asking because the alarm functions differently on the 06 models.

Re: Replacing Rear Seat Knob and Shaft

Thanks. All the hard work was in finding what works... I'm honestly not that happy with the result but at least the rear seats work. Ideally you'd want to use something like this: 0729181712.jpg This is an old hollow-handled screwdriver I had lying around and the handle is the absolute PERFECT diame...
