Re: Stuffing a Legacy H6 in a 03 Baja, how hard can it be?

You need a donor vehicle, ENTIRE vehicle. I started with a 5spd, that was the main reason behind going to auto. Yes the entire dash harness is needed, plus back half harness as well, it will need to be spliced into stock harness. Part of the air bag system will need to be removed from wiring loom, u...

Re: Stuffing a Legacy H6 in a 03 Baja, how hard can it be?

Not much was going on on Scooby, reason for me not visiting site, however my Baja H6 VDC has been going great, I put about 80k or more on it. Driven to many states and daily driver it as well, loving it. I will try and document most of what I did to the car, hmmrrm, I mean Truck. I have done many mo...

Re: Febest suspension parts, beware!

Some more pics of Febest failed parts,, take note that the ball joints boots not only failed but the joint itself was shaking very bad as if about to come part, replaced withg factory ball joint that has about 30k on it and still feels like new.

Febest suspension parts, beware!

I own a 2nd gen Outback chassis. As you already know if you have to replace the bushings in these chassis apposed to say the more simpler Impreza chassis, it can be very time consuming and expensive to say the least. My chassis has now 260K, I use it as a daily driver mostly highway use. At about th...

Re: Excessive OIL LEAK on just rebuilt EZ30d

Thanks for the replies guys, I found and fixed the problem. The problem, subconsciously I knew, was the improper installation of the second head gasket, the head gasket was turned the wrong way round. In an incoherent state, about 4-5am in the morning with 36hrs of no sleep, I installed the Felpro h...

Re: Stuffing a Legacy H6 in a 03 Baja, how hard can it be?

I put 50 miles on the car so far with 15 being NYC traffic. Vacuum leak made drivability terrible, 4 dash lights on, fixed leak, engine light off 3 more lights to to go.

Excessive OIL LEAK on just rebuilt EZ30d

I did a partial rebuild on my 2001 ez30d motor that I just transplanted in my 03 Baja, the oil leak seems to be coming from just between the head block and the chain cover vicnity, its leaking and mixing with anti freeze into a brown color that is pouring out the side of the motor only when the engi...

Re: Stuffing a Legacy H6 in a 03 Baja, how hard can it be?

So I did the swap, it was a bit of night mare as it was just me in a friends backyard. Took a week off work to do the swap. Now I have major issue; MAJOR OIL LEAK, I did a partial rebuild on my 2001 ez30d motor, it seems to be coming from just between the head block and the chain cover, its leaking ...

Re: Stuffing a Legacy H6 in a 03 Baja, how hard can it be?

I am in the process of swapping over to an H6 with VDC, got the donor. Will replace HG, VC seals, chain guides, all engine, trans and diff. mounts, and all fluids with genuine Scoobaru. Was planning on doing a low boost setup on the 170k motor, I took a close look at the bottom end that was apart on...

Re: Stuffing a Legacy H6 in a 03 Baja, how hard can it be?

I am still stumped as to why only 2000 to 2002 OBW/S are the only years to use OEM H6 swap, aren't the bodies the same to 2004? I gave it much thought as to what I wanted, just do not have anyone around me to help in any way with cars not even mechanics or shops around. If I am going to do a swap, I...

Re: Stuffing a Legacy H6 in a 03 Baja, how hard can it be?

you need the complete 2000 to 2002 outback
Why only these and not 03 and 04 Outbacks?
Can the outback sedan work as well?

Re: Looking to change over to an Automatic

About 225K, yeah the box is making a sort of gear whining noise while driving, mostly in lower gears, gets more pronounced after it warms up. Difficulty disengaging clutch and syncros in 1,2. I changed the oil twice in the box withing the last 50K. Its barely noticeably at highway speeds but gearing...
