Re: Is this a good buy?

Thanks for taking the time to write. I've been spoiled by my Toyotas, Hondas, Acuras and Lexus. I have 6 vehicles for my family, and all I ever to is oil changes and brake pads and fill fluids and get tires changed and the occasional battery (knock on wood). If the engine and transmission are depen...

Re: Is this a good buy?

I just purchased a 2006 Subaru Baja Turbo on EBay for $6,200. Manual transmission. Leather seats. About 143k miles. 3 owners, Southern Colorado and NC. Checkit out on EBay under "Completed Listings." I know of the infamous head gasket problems, but that was replaced. So was turbo. New tires, too. I...

Re: Oil smell

They are fairly easy to replace. Depending on transmission and year they differ slightly. I saw a good how to thread a while back. I will try to find it and post a link.

In short, can be done in an afternoon.

Re: Baja Suspension- Hard to find?

I purchased four new KYB struts and top hats. They shipped quickly and arrived in good shape. Needless to say it made a huge difference to replace the (probably) original struts with 200k miles on them. Night and day difference!

Re: Highest miles on a Baja (so far!)?

I'm the newbie here. Just picked up my neighbor's 2003 Baja, but my 6th Subaru (kid's driving now). Currently has a little over 295,000 miles and running strong! Located in Snohomish, WA. Just took it in for its airbag recall and now going in for timing belt #3. Neighbor was the original owner and ...

Re: RuhRoh's daily EJmino

Thanks.... I totally agree. It's just aggressive enough to not be aggressive (if that makes sense). However, this is my current situation... 20180218_164209.jpg And this looks to be the source of the problem. 20180218_170958.jpg From here. 20180218_171014.jpg I was under the hood today trying to fi...

Re: Baja Suspension- Hard to find?

I pulled the trigger and purchased struts for all four corners and new top hats too. KYB stock replacements. Same as I had on my 2003. I don't daily drive it, but don't want to deal with too much NVH from a stiff setup like coil-overs. I feel like I got a good deal, just over $400.00 after tax and ...

Re: Highest miles on a Baja (so far!)?

San Francisco w/ a 2003 @ 212661mi (previous commuter) I did notice when going from reverse to drive, there is a little bit of a delay getting fully into gear...is this normal? What else (preventatively) should I be looking for...to keep her humming along like she is now? There is a whole generatio...

Re: How common is head gasket replacement?

My experience with the EJ251 and EJ253 is that they will all need to be done at some point. Usually around 100k miles. I drove my 03 Baja for 30k miles with weeping head gasket on the passenger side. I eventually changed it because I was tired of it smelling when I parked it. Sent from my Pixel XL u...

Re: 05 Baja Sport won't start

With the correct tool you can pull off the fuel feed line on the right hand side of the engine bay. You can put a cup or jar in place for the fuel to squirt into and have a friend crank the car over. It should be a healthy stream, not dribbling. The fuel fitting removal tool can be purchased on Amaz...
