Rear-facing infant seats?

Has anyone gone down the tricky road of fitting rear-facing infant seats in their Baja? If so, please let me know what make and model you used. The Graco Snugride seats seem to be the smallest on the market, but they're still pretty large. The SnugRide 35 will fit in the passenger side if the front ...

Re: Any problems with your Baja????

Mine is also taking about half a quart every 3000 miles. No smoking, burning or dripping -- it just seems to disappear.

Re: Any problems with your Baja????

Which model year, and which engine? My '03 Sport has the 4-cyl engine and 139,000 miles. It currently gets between 27.5 and 28.5mpg with mostly highway driving. Every now and then my mileage will drop and that ususally indicates that the air filter needs to be changed or the IACV needs to be tweeked...

I'm on my second one, but it's 3 years old now and seems to be holding up pretty well as long as I'm careful with the bow.

Re: got bumped

Someone once hit mine in a parking lot and pushed the corner of the bumper in. By the time I got home, it had popped back out and there is still no evidence that it ever happened, even to this day.

Re: Any problems with your Baja????

I just crossed 100k and my HVAC fan switch is acting wonky (the fan doesn't turn off) and it's starting to seep some oil around one of the plugs, but all is well other than that.

(And the soft cover is still a POS but it's hanging in there -- no tears, not much stretching, not too much fading.)

Re: wind noise from windows

I get wind noise around my windows/mirrors when people have been pushing or pulling on the windows when opening or closing the doors. Squeeze the rubber pieces (around the mirror) at the front corner of the window back together == noise goes away until someone touches your windows and pushes them ap...

Re: Soft cover

The bar attaches to the cover with two plastic clips. Flip the bar so that the bow is up (opens downward). It holds your cover up so that rain doesn't pool on it and stretch it out of shape. Yes, the bow has a tendency to flip over. Nothing much that can be done about that -- unfortunately it's the ...

100,000 miles ... who else?

My '03 Baja crossed 100,000 miles last Sunday on the way to church. Anyone else over 100k yet?

Re: Baja breakdown

Holy crap!

Mine just crossed 100,000 miles, so we'll be replacing the belts soon. I guess we'll have a close look at the pulleys then, too.

Re: Soft Cover Removal!

What does it take? Any suggestions? I just bought a 2006 Baja Sport. It came with the OEM soft cover and I really hate it as itt makes lowering and raising the tailgate a frigging project and I think I'm going to replace it with an Ozzbros hard cover. Any help/suggestions for filling the holes crea...

Re: Oil Use

My '03 has recently started eating oil but we haven't been too worried about it yet. At the last spark plug change, we noticed an oil seepage around the o-rings there for one of the plugs; the o-rings will probably get replaced at the 105,000 service (coming up Real Soon Now (tm)) when we do the tim...

Re: '03 OBW HVAC controls in a Baja?

Don't have an answer for you, but my HVAC controls just started malfunctioning as I crossed 100,000 miles last week. Turning the switch to off doesn't turn the fan off anymore - it leaves it at level 1. I figured I'd find a wrecked Subaru somewhere buy the panel to replace mine. It would be nice to ...

27.5 mpg? Can you tip me off on how your are getting good gas mileage like that. Ive been driving conservative lately and am only able to get 21 mpg tops. Threadjack: I get a minimum of 27.5 mpg, sometimes as high as 29. I've got the '03 Sport. I don't drive it particularly easily, but I use high o...
