Re: (03 Baja) Can anyone tell me how access the top of shocks?

On the left side you can gain access through the jack storage area. On the right, it's through the tool storage area, but the is a bottom to that bin, so you need to pull the trim away.

Re: Baja roof racks

Legacy/OB from 2000-2004 will fit but you need to shorten each crossbar by about 1/2". I think I recall someone using a set from a forester??

Re: mechanic wanted Colorado

I'm not familiar with CO, so I have no idea how far it would be, but Shawn Watson at RetroRoo has been elbow deep in Subarus for at least 15 years. https://www.google.com/search?q=retro+roo&oq=retro+roo&aqs=chrome..69i57j0l3.6250j0j4&client=ms-android-google&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8#fpstate=lie

Re: Need rear diff 2003 Manual NA

You want one off of a Leg or OB. Most manuals will have the 4.11, and non OB autos may. Sizing of the diff is all the same going back into the 80's, the thing you need to look for is how the axles attach. The Baja has the stubs on the axle that insert into the diff, they just pop in and pop out. Som...

Re: 5 Speed Tranny

There are 4 main components to the Subaru driveline. - transmission, reduces the engine speed into controllable great ratios - center differential, takes the output from the transmission and splits it to the front and rear - front differential, takes output from center diff, reduces the revolutions ...

The interchange in their software will also pull up compatable engines from other Soobs. You can use an engine for either a MT or AT.

It's a common Subaru issue. I've made the "repair" while driving down the highway.

Re: New to me, 2003 Baja - Hi!

For the wind noise, crank the window down and squeeze /push out firmly of the black sail that is the interior of the mirror mount. There may be a tweeter mounted there, push out on the rubber and steel part behind it.

Re: Looking to change over to an Automatic

TCU- Transmission Control Unit Having done this swap in the other direction, the biggest job will be the wiring. There is a substantial wiring harness that goes along with the AT and the TCU. This harness will not be in a MT car. Rather than trying to make it up, you would be better off getting the ...

Re: 5 Speed Tranny

Here is the tranny list showing all of the gears. http://spda-online.ca/content.php?44-transmission-chart Whatever trans you use, you MUST match the FD (4.11 or 4.44) or also swap the rear diff. All of the other trans codes will have slightly different ratios for each gear. As long as the FD matches...

I don't think that is the right plug to connect to the harness in the car door. I've always just cut the harness off of the speakers that I take out.

I know on other Subaru's, if that switch is unplugged it acts like it is turned on. I would check all the wiring connectors around the column.

Re: Auto trans shifting

It's not really going to hurt it, but like Anarchy mentioned it does cause extra stress on most moving parts. I don't really think it is necessary though. Subaru auto's are fairly good at dropping a gear when you get aggressive with the gas pedal. Once you get the feel for it, you can use the gas pe...
